My laboratory, http://www.ms.lt , consists of independent thinkers who work together based on our shared value of "caring about thinking". I've granted the titles of Instigatorius or Investigatorius to about 20 members who've proven active over three consecutive months. I'm offering them that I sell to Sponsors their services as Authors. Each Author says what they could do for $360, for example, see Peter Kaminski's answers at http://www.ms.lt/en/hiring/kaminskipeter.html Currently the range is from 3 to 36 hours of work. A Sponsor purchases workpacks from our lab, $480 each. $120 of that goes to the lab, and the Sponsor then has $360 to spend on our Authors within twelve months. The nature of our lab is that the Sponsor may get a lot done for free, simply by participating through our groups. Finally, they may ask for particular help which they may post. Authors may reply, and the Sponsor may come to an agreement with one or more Authors. The work must be phrased as an authorship agreement, where the Author is being paid for certain rights to a work they are authoring (which might be programming, for example, or writing letters). The license must be one that adds to the public wealth. If the Sponsor is satisfied, the lab releases payment to the Author. If the Sponsor is not satisfied, then they ask the lab to release the money to their favorite charity. We also encourage Authors to work privately for the Sponsors, in which case they can contact each other directly. Our focus is on the public work. I think that public work allows us to invest more of ourselves, because we don't have to fragment ourselves, our work can integrate with that of others. Sponsors have to be members, because we're looking for long-term relationships with those who share our values. We offer a free membership when you buy 2 workpacks. We also award free memberships for your thoughtful answers, in the public domain, to one of our questionnaires http://www.ms.lt/en/joining/working.html Members get to participate in our working groups, such as ThinkingRelevantly to engage group minds, and ThinkingPowerfully to jumpstart a network of tools for thinking. It's a great time for input because I'm just starting. I want to approach corporations who have trouble rewarding, encouraging their independent thinkers, they could give them an allowance here, especially if they have trouble integrating their creativity. I also want to approach non-profit organizations that want to get things done. I'd like this to be an economy that can sustain itself, including the costs of administration. Then the larger revenue would come from helping set up such economies. I'm very interested what you might advise. Thank you! Andrius

I invite you to consider if you would be willing to work publicly for
pay? And would you let our laboratory sell your services?
My plan for our laboratory is that we offer ourselves as a context
for working publicly. We bring together wonderful people who are self-
managing and understanding-of-others. We have a shared value, caring
about thinking, that allows us to overcome many differences in order to
work together.
Many of us are looking for work. I have done well by working for
other members. I feel that when I work for somebody, I am investing
myself in that relationship, so I should choose wisely who to work for.
Somebody who shares our values will appreciate that we keep in mind
how we might leverage our various talents and resources, including our
laboratory and our fellow members.
I'd like to show that working publicly and working privately are
important options to consider, each having advantages. I've started
thinking about them at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thinkingrelevantly/message/455 and
Natalie and Marjorie have shared great thoughts which you'll find at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/minciu_sodas_en/message/1823
One of the advantages of working publicly, I think, is that we
professionals can work for much smaller units of work. Normally, it may
be very difficult to purchase $500 of time from a programmer, artist,
writer, etc. because the cost of negotiation is too high. But when people
know each other, and support each other, as we do here, I think it
becomes possible.
By working publicly, I mean that you'd be working for another
member, that it would work as an author, that you would author under
some license that adds to the public wealth. I'll write more about the
Author-Sponsor relationship, but typically the Sponsor would pay $480 in
advance and the Author would receive $360 upon completion of work. If
the Sponsor is not satisfied, then they can have their money go to their
chosen charity, instead of the Author.
To start this off, I'm going to allow current members to purchase
these at cost, that is, for $360.
Would you like Minciu Sodas to offer your services? You will
certainly add to the creative talent that we can make available. You're
also welcome to offer to work privately, and we'll present this
information alongside, so that people can contact you directly. We
should talk over the phone, too, if you are interested.
I include below a questionnaire that you can also find at
http://www.ms.lt/en/workingpublicly/index.html You can also look at
answers from Raimundas Vaitkevicius, Peter Kaminski, and me.

We offer a nice range of work, from 3 hours to 36 hours!
