The poem structures the space around me:
* beyond the bed is the moon (beauty) and frost (within beauty: surprise)
* "I raise my head" distinguishes what is within my head (my will) and beyond my head (my neck and body)
* my eyes link me with the moon beyond me
* my thoughts are within my head and beyond my bed - my home (what is dear to me, my self) is far beyond my bed - within that which is beyond me
* and so I, within my head, am foreign to myself - if I reflect upon it
So there is a tension between reliving my home (imagining it) and being apart from it (upon reflecting). It is a framed sadness:
* not present when I am not thinking of the separation, the distance between what is beyond me
* not present when I am immersed in my thought of home (contentment)
* present when I catch myself looking at myself, when I feel I am not within my home, I am in a foreign environment
